Easter is approaching and hopefully a bit of warmer, drier weather. Remember to book your scooter/wheelchair in good time as we will be closed from 2pm Wed 27th March until 10.am Wed 3rd April.

We wish all our friends a Happy Christmas and New Year. We will be closing at 2pm on Friday 22nd Dec 2023 and we will open again at 10am on Wednesday 3rd January 2024.

New Scooters
On Friday 8th September, we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of West Bridgford Shopmobility with friends and invited guests including Marie Males and Joyce Langton, who were volunteers (and trustees) from the start. Jean Macinnes, Minutes Secretary to the Trustees, and colleagues from our partner organisation Scootermania also joined the party. Our current volunteers, under the watchful eye of Sheila Tomkins, decorated the building and prepared drinks and snacks for the guests. We also welcomed Kay Cutts, widow of our much-missed colleague and trustee, Nigel Cutts. Peter Mills, current Head of Trustees gave a welcome speech and invited Marie to share her experiences and memories of her time with Shopmobility. We were also priveleged to welcome Carolyn Perry, CEO of RCVS, who was instrumental in the setting up of Shopmobility, Cllr Liz Plant and Cllr Debbie Mason, Lady Mayor of Rushcliffe. Debbie gave a short speech congratulating the volunteers and trustees on their contribution to this important service for the people of Rushcliffe and wished us well for the future. Marie and Joyce cut the celebration cake, which was enjoyed by everyone. This was a lovely, sunny celebratory event. Here's to the next 20 years!
March 2004 saw the opening ceremony of West Bridgford Shopmobility in the Bridgford Road car park. This photo shows the cutting of the ribbon by David Bell, then Mayor of Ruchscliffe and Kenneth Clarke (now Lord Clarke) then MP for Rushcliffe. We are celebrating our 25 years of service to the community on Friday 8th September from 11am in our current building - a larger version behind the library - with invited guests, including the current Mayor Cllr Debbie Mason. Please come along and join in the celebration.

We're celebrating 20 years of service to the local community!
In September 2003, a group of enterprising individuals created West Bridgford Shopmobility with the aim of helping local people with mobility problems to be able to get around the shops and other attractions in the area.
From humble beginnings in the single storey building (remember that?) in the Bridgford Road car park, and with the help of generous donations from local businesses, WBS is just about to celebrate its 20th birthday! Still facing the car park, but now in an office in the library complex, our activities have expanded to embrace short-term hire of mobility scooters, wheelchairs and walkers for use on UK holidays, recuperation after hospitalisation, or visits from guests with mobility issues.
Staffed entirely by volunteers, WBS is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm, so if you believe that we can meet your mobility needs, come along and have a chat. Annual membership costs just £20, for which you can use our mobility aids on any day when we’re open. And if you are going on holiday or out for a day trip, our hire prices are very reasonable.

King Charles III Coronation
We offer our congratulations to King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort on their coronation on Saturday 6th May.
Our office will be closed on Monday 8th May for the public Bank Holiday and will re-open on Wednesday 10th May at 10 am

Can you help our service by volunteering for 2 hours a week?
We are looking for people in our West Bridgford Shopmobility service - Monday, Wednesday or Friday. You would be helping customers with the hire of mobility aids: providing advice on the service and the equipment. There is also an element of administration, but the most important aspect is offering a friendly, welcoming and reassuring service for people requiring help with mobility.

It's definitely autumn now - chilly but beautiful sunshine. Just the weather for wrapping up warm and enjoying a trip out to the park or the shops - or maybe a day trip to a lovely visitor attraction. Our scooters and wheelchairs are just what you need. Members can use them locally in West Bridgford for free during our opening hours or you can hire them for a reasonable fee. If you haven't used our service yet, come in and have a look.
We're open Mon, Wed and Fri 10-2 and you'll find us in the Library car park.

As you can see, our scooters and wheelchairs are flying out of the garage at the moment. The holiday season combined with the lovely weather is tempting our members to book up early. So if you are looking to hire a scooter or wheelchair from us in the next few weeks, don't delay. You can book by phone - 01159815451 - if you are already a member or you can call in to the office (Mon, Wed, Fri 10-2).
If you have not joined Shopmobility yet, just give us a ring or call into our office in the Library car park to register. Our annual membership is £20 and our hire charges are £30 pw plus deposit for a scooter and £20 pw plus deposit for a wheelchair.

Hope everyone had a great time at Lark in the Park and Riverside Festival and I'm sure the scooters and wheelchairs made the events more enjoyable. The weather is set fair for a few more weeks, so if you are planning to go to other events or on holiday, remember to book your scooter in good time. We are very busy at the moment and we don't like to disappoint anyone.
For anyone considering joining the Shopmobility scheme, our annual membership fee is just £20 (which includes free use of our scooters in West Bridgford for a few hours) and for longer hire, the cost is £30 pw for a scooter and £20 for a wheelchair - plus we take a deposit of min £50. We are located behind West Bridgford Library. Hope to see you soon.

It's getting hot out there!
Summer is definitely here at last and we are getting very busy at Shopmobility with bookings for scooters and wheelchairs. Whether you just want to have a drive around W. Bridgford Park or go to the shops, we can help. It's also the season for weddings and events, so a collapsible scooter to go in the boot of the car or maybe a wheelchair, will allow you to enjoy your day without worrying about long walks. And, of course, many of you will be planning holidays away, so again, remember you can book a scooter or a wheelchair in advance for that.
Don't leave it until the last minute - we would advise that you book yourself in the diary well in advance. Pop in the office Mon, Wed, Fri 10-2 or call us on 01159815451
